Top-3 ranking of the UFC’s light division Petr Yan (14-1) in the next fight can meet Marlon Moraes (23-6-1), who heads the rating.
Marlon Moraes failed to make his UFC debut in 2017, losing by split decision to Raphael Assuncao (27-7). After this loss, the Brazilian met with John Dodson (21-11) and won a split decision in an equal match, which allowed him to take the 7th place in the UFC ranking, throwing off Aljamein Sterling (18-3), and after winning a crushing knockout over sterling, he rose to the 5th position. In June 2018, he sent Jimmy Rivera (22-4) to a dead knockout, and in February of last year, he strangled Raphael Assuncao in a rematch. Next, Moraes faced the champion of the easiest category, Henry Sehudo (15-2), quickly ran out of steam and was knocked out, and in December, he defeated Jose Aldo (28-6) by a split decision.

In September 2017, Yan knocked out Mateusz Mattos (12-1-1), then made his UFC debut, beautifully knocking out Teruto Ishihara, faced a very persistent Korean Jin Soo Son (9-4), whom he defeated in a devastating fight by decision, knocked out Douglas Silva de Andrade (25-3) and defeated John Dodson and Jimmy Rivera by decision. In December, Yan met with veteran Yuraya Faber (35-11), who was beaten and knocked out in the 3rd round.
